Training Dumps

November 30, 2010 in Uncategorized by Richard Hum

Every year at about this time the dogs seem to go into a bit of a slump. Hard to say why exactly. It could be a certain number of miles or maybe because right around now is usually a few weeks into a training period of increased run frequency and duration- so the dogs are tired and haven’t adapted to new training stress just yet. What ever the case, laying around reading to the puppies isn’t the way to make it better!

Musher read about mushing to young puppies

Not the best way to work through a slump!

Nope. The best way is to keep running. Stay positive and love the dogs up with extra attentions and food. Make sure they stay healthy with lot’s of rub downs and pay special attention to their feet!

From here on out we are in the midst of our real training. Season. This weekend logged 80 miles of runs. So this is our kickoff and reminder to teachers to get working on those posters. I will be posting weekly videos about training and as well as links for how to complete your posters using data from the website.

Oh boy!  It’s been snowing and we are out on the sleds… been so busy with it I haven’t been on the computer much!  I’m back now though, thank you Christina for all the mobile phone updates of movies and pics!
