Our Programs:

NEWS UPDATE: Kigluait is currently on hold for registering Programs, please see Newsletter.
Our Videoconference Programs are unique in the world of traditional videoconferencing- Because we get you outside live in the forests of Alaska, with real-time dog team runs using teacher-based flexibility to shape the learning experience.
It is our goal to provide more than the standard one-time enrichment opportunity. We want to develop long term partnerships with teachers that redefine ideas on how distance learning can be used in our classrooms!

On Demand Point-to-Point Programs
These are the most flexible programs we offer. You can select whatever program you like from either our Mushing Series or Treasures of the North videoconferences. You then choose the date and time for the conference that best fits your classroom's needs. We then work closely with you to schedule the program at your desired time and to focus the program towards your classroom's individual content needs. We offer two series of programs to select from.
The Mushing Series is our hallmark set of programs. Of the six individual programs that make up this series the most popular are Mushing Alaska, where we take you out for a real-time dog run, and Meet a Musher, which delves into the lifestyle of an Alaskan musher. These are the perfect programs to introduce your students to the power of videoconferencing! However, the rest of the programs in this series offer the perfect opportunity to use the uniqueness of sled dogs to “hook” students into investing in the core academic subjects of reading, math, and science. All and all, any of these programs are perfect as individual events or register for the entire series to provide a semester (to year long) theme for your classroom! All are fully supported by our on-line Moddle classroom and many other Web 2.0 tools.

Treasures of the North is a bit of mixed bag- it's a little bit of this, a little bit of that- but what pulls it all together is the needs of the North Country. Just what is it like to live where in the winter -30F is not something to be surprised at? Where unless it's -20F kids still play outside at lunch? Or, where gold once ruled the day? And, where even today, the natural environment has a huge say in how what we do each day? That's just what these programs explore. Whether from the perspective of an historic gold miner in our Gold Rush program, the survivor of a “bush” plane accident in the Survive! program, or from the words of the many authors who have written about the wonderful landscape in our Books of the North programs we probe deep into the question what's it like to live in Alaska.
