Our Programs:

Our Videoconference Programs are unique in the world of traditional videoconferencing- Because we get you outside live in the forests of Alaska, with real-time dog team runs using teacher-based flexibility to shape the learning experience.
It is our goal to provide more than the standard one-time enrichment opportunity. We want to develop long term partnerships with teachers that redefine ideas on how distance learning can be used in our classrooms!
We Offer 3 types of programming:

On Demand Point-to-Point Programs
These are the most flexible programs we offer. You can select whatever program you like from either our Mushing Series or Treasures of the North videoconferences. You then choose the date and time for the conference that best fits your classroom's needs. We then work closely with you to schedule the program at your desired time and to focus the program towards your classroom's individual content needs. We offer two series of programs to select from.
The Mushing Series is our hallmark set of programs. Of the six individual programs that make up this series the most popular are Mushing Alaska, where we take you out for a real-time dog run, and Meet a Musher, which delves into the lifestyle of an Alaskan musher. These are the perfect programs to introduce your students to the power of videoconferencing! However, the rest of the programs in this series offer the perfect opportunity to use the uniqueness of sled dogs to “hook” students into investing in the core academic subjects of reading, math, and science. All and all, any of these programs are perfect as individual events or register for the entire series to provide a semester (to year long) theme for your classroom! All are fully supported by our on-line Moddle classroom and many other Web 2.0 tools.

Treasures of the North is a bit of mixed bag- it's a little bit of this, a little bit of that- but what pulls it all together is the needs of the North Country. Just what is it like to live where in the winter -30F is not something to be surprised at? Where unless it's -20F kids still play outside at lunch? Or, where gold once ruled the day? And, where even today, the natural environment has a huge say in how what we do each day? That's just what these programs explore. Whether from the perspective of an historic gold miner in our Gold Rush program, the survivor of a “bush” plane accident in the Survive! program, or from the words of the many authors who have written about the wonderful landscape in our Books of the North programs we probe deep into the question what's it like to live in Alaska.

Monthly Multi-Point Programs
These are our most economic program offerings. We have adapted our most popular Mushing programs- Mushing Alaska and Meet-a-Musher- to be multi-point events! They occur on the first Thursday of each month on a set time schedule. There are four sessions during the day and each session will have between 1 and 3 classes attending. While they don't offer the same level of scheduling flexibility as our On-Demand programs, they do afford a sizable economic advantage and offer your students the opportunity to interact not only with us and the dogs, but with other students from a wide variety of locations... all centered around a common interest in sled dogs! And, after all, isn't that high level of interactivity one of the biggest benefits to videoconferencing in the first place? Couple the student to student interactivity during the conference with our powerful online classrooms and Web 2.0 tools and you've created a potent and dynamic learning environment for your students!

Monthly Special Event Programs
Our Special Events happen once a month- on the third Thursday. They cover unique topics that we only run once a year. Sled Dogs with Santa and Adopt-a-Dog are popular examples. The topics are chosen especially to line up with seasonal style events or activities going on in kennel or Alaska, in a broader sense, which is why they are only offered once a year. And, just like our Multi-point events, what they lack in scheduling flexibility they more than make up for in student to student interactivity and economic value! All special events include online support in our Online classroom, Moodle and our interactive Flash Kennels site. or more information about each event please contact us
