Spring 2009!
Spring is here! Warmer weather and LOTS of sunlight have reached us here in Talkeetna! Okay, well, actually it is only early spring. Warm weather means it's getting into the 20's (30's in the sun) and we are still getting new snow almost everyday. So it might not be the kind of Spring most of you are used to, but we are getting there! And anyway, it is one of the best times of the year. We still have tons of snow to run the dogs on and now that sun has returned in full force, hours and hours each day to do it! So it's a great time of year! Song birds are returning. The Birch trees are starting to shake off the winter blues and everything else is comming alive again! And with that spirit in mind we are busy preparing for the 2009 Poetry Slam!
And, oh ya! one of our many local volcanos- Redoubt- is blowing it's top! We have recieved a bit of ash fall from it but it could have been worse (and still could be, actually). But don't worry, we have plans in place to get all of the dogs out of it (and into my woodshop!) if we really get dumped on! You can learn all about it from the Alaska Volcano Observatory.
