New this year to Kigluait is the consistent monthly special events. We have set these up to provide a bit of diversity for our participants. Today's multi-point would not have been at all successful if it were not for Whirlidurb's bridging support. Professional, supportive, encouraging and a great deal of fun to work with. So here is what happened today to make Whirlidurb an amazing partner to have.
Kicking off the year with Adopt a Sled Dog is always a fun multi-point special event that allows students a closer look into our kennel and specific sled dogs. It also encourages students to look at their own health as they track the health of the Sled Dogs. This is a fantastic program, but at the end of todays multi-point special event we decided it really needed to be a point to point program for several reasons:
-More time for each class with their sled dog
-More time to focus on all the aspects of the health check
-More time for students to understand the purpose of monitoring health stats.
Now in every other situation, trying to do what I did today would probably have ended in a disaster. Cramming the program with too much content, and then having to juggle tech issues on top of not enough time for content made the programs of lower quality. But because Shane Howard was helping me run the Whirlidurb bridging in the background it made all the difference.
As we continue to work with partners and get feedback from our participants, we too will make adjustments to make our programs better. With growth comes growing pains, and this is part of continually improving and moving forward with videoconferencing. So chalk this one up to lessons learned and be thankful for having an awesome partner like Whirlidurb.
