November/ December Special Event

Special Event: Sled Dogs with Santa!

As December approaches, with all the associated festivities, there is one subject that is always a bit touchy around the kennel... Reindeer!

“Reindeer,” you say. “What about reindeer?  We love' em!”

Well sure you do!  Everybody does, after all they are Santa's favorite.  But do you know why?  Do you know the ancient story of how sled dogs and reindeer once vied for Santa's attention?  Have you ever heard of the great mythological debate they waged against one another? Each championing their respective abilities for the honor of pulling Santa's sleigh?

Not to many people have!

But every sled dog has.  And it burns deep in their hearts!

Come with us for this special holiday event: Sled Dogs with Santa! (Needs to be a link)  And we will share the story with you.  You'll learn all about arguments each side made to support their case for pulling Santa's sleigh. And, you'll learn why Santa eventually choose the reindeer.

After being presented the facts, you will be given the chance to decide for yourself if Santa made the right choice- and vote on our website(another link?)!  Who knows, maybe we can start our own web-based grass roots campaign to get Santa to change his mind- Power to the People!

The details:
This is a great program for some simple, good old fashioned  holiday fun!

And a great opportunity for some fun math applications as we look into who can pull more weight: Sled Dogs or Reindeer?  At the greatest speed, for the longest distance?

And practice science skills as we examine the physics of sleds moving across the snow and sleighs flying through the air!
